Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of adult learners, alternative educational methods and have the ability to apply these methods for adult studentsAbility to teach students of diverse abilities and backgroundsAbility to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.Ability to relate well to different groups of students of different ages and ability levels.Maintain clean and professional classroom environment.Enthusiasm for the subject material that will foster a love of learning by students.Responsibilities:Responsible for teaching cosmetology courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting.Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to gain/increase skills in the area of cosmetologyPlan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons and monitor student’s performance.Create a climate that encourages and supports learning.Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment recordsResponsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learningPerform other duties as assignedQualifications: Current New York State Cosmetology LicenseDemonstrated ability to teach the required subject matterAt least three years of relevant work experience (salon, spa, etc.)Preferred Qualifications:Instructional experience with a diverse population of studentsAt least three years of experience teaching cosmetologyCourse Description:CosmetologyA two-year, 1000 hour program dedicated to preparing students for current and emerging careers in the professions of natural hair styling, esthetics, nail specialty, cosmetologyIn addition to the application on OLAS, please attach the following in OLAS or by email at apply@wswheboces.org:Letter of InterestUpdated ResumeCopy of certificationTwo (2) written professional letters of reference.
