The West Islip UFSD is seeking student-centered educators who are dedicated to professional growth and committed to the success of all students. Teaching assistants (TAs) in this role support the district's technology infrastructure and educational environment by performing technical and operational duties under the general supervision of a licensed or certified educator, such as: Completing simple repairs of instructional materials, computer hardware, and peripherals. Opening and managing help desk tickets in situations where basic troubleshooting is insufficient. Managing technology records, including hardware inventory, repair logs, items designated for surplus, and devices currently out for repair. Planning and constructing digital signage, displays, and bulletin boards for the building. Assisting staff with basic troubleshooting and technology-related operational skills. Participating in Computer TA meetings and collaborating regularly with the Technology Integration Specialist to discuss building hardware needs, manage resources, and maintain equipment availability. Other technical and operational tasks as directed by the building principal or executive director. The role of the Computer TA will be relatively consistent across all buildings, with an understanding that every building’s technical needs are different. The ideal Computer TA is expected to be: An excellent problem-solver - A flexible and responsive problem solver that can identify and troubleshoot computer and hardware problems while adjusting their schedule depending on the needs of the building and technical issues that require immediate attention. Tech-savvy - They must be highly familiar with a variety of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals. Patient and helpful - They must be able to provide technical assistance to faculty and students of all levels of technical expertise. Organized and efficient - They must be able to manage their time effectively, track device inventory, and juggle multiple support requests simultaneously. Requirement: Must have Teaching Assistant Certification or Teaching Certification.
