TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER Certified PositionFull Time, 10-month (Elementary 1-6, B-2) Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Exceptional Education Department Location: BOCES Smith SchoolDUTIES: Responsible for providing specially designed instruction with an eye toward the implementation of the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in the Turning Point program in Exceptional Education. Teacher will be provided curricular guidelines and materials, focused on prioritized standards while creating an instructional space that meets the learning needs of our students. Responsible for case management duties of homeroom and Individualized Education Plans complete with progress monitoring. Must be an organized, effective time manger, with emotional intelligence skills, who is dedicated to collaboration with colleagues in the program and with our partner agency to provide a therapeutic milieu in the classroom. Candidate must maintain student records consistent with State and Federal regulations. Perform other duties as required.* This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities in an 8:1:1 setting.QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities 1-6 (SWD 1-6) OR Students with Disabilities B-2 (SWD B-2) Generalist OR must hold Permanent NYS Special Education Certification K - 12. (Previous experience working with students with emotional/behavioral disabilities is preferred.)START DATE: September 5, 2023SALARY: $52,000 (2023-2024 base salary), with additional credit for prior experience, Masters Degree and Graduate Credits.
