TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, MATH 7-12 Certified PositionFull Time, 10-month position Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Exceptional Education Department-Springboard Location: BOCES Smith School DUTIES: Responsible for providing engaging and inquiry-based high school mathematics instruction anchoredby the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in a 12:1:1 special education program.Teacher will have freedom to prioritize content, design curricula and create an instructional space that meetsthe learning needs of students.Responsible for teaching all High School Mathematics (Finance, Algebra 1 & 2).Serves as a special education teacher and case manager for 12 students. Responsible for progress monitoringon IEPs for all students in the program in grades 7-12; could be up to 48. Develops supportive relationshipswith, among students, advances positive school culture, and promotes attainment of academic goals.Must be a flexible, out of the box thinker who is able to work as a member of a team with an eye towardtransition planning for families and students during and after high school.Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State Certification in Special Education K-12 OR Studentswith Disabilities 7-12 AND Secondary Mathematics 7-12 OR SOCE in Mathematics. Previous successful teaching experience is desirable. Must be a team player, have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. START DATE: September 1, 2022 SALARY: $50,000 (2022-2023 base salary) plus additional salary credit for graduate credits, Master’s Degree and prior teaching experience.
