DUTIES (include but are not limited to):•Keep the Supervisory Union informed and in compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and other disability related laws.•Supervise and evaluate all mainstream Special Education staff in conjunction with the building principal.Ensure IEP supports and services are provided in buildings in accordance with VT regulations. •Prepare or arrange for the preparation of all reports, records, data and other paperwork required by local, state or federal mandates.•Oversee the provision of homebound services for eligible students.•Act as the LEA representative in situations requiring administrative approval such as multi-year plans, long-term suspension or expulsion hearings, etc.•Work continuously with Special Education staff to improve their instructional skills and other areas of competence through frequent observation, instructional conferencing, faculty meetings and other means.•Assist in planning implementing orientation, in-service programs and other professional development activities for all Special Education staff including paraprofessionals.Lead discussions and professional learning to achieve the District CIP goals in relation to marginalized populations and collaborative improvement plan goals. Lead the district’s implementation of inclusive practices including Universal Design for Learning and Differentiation to meet the needs of all learners. •Assist Director of Special Education with the administration and oversight of Special Education funding.QUALIFICATIONS –•Must hold Professional Educators License with the Administrative Endorsement of Coordinator of Special Education or related area.•Master’s Degree in Special Education or related area.•Administrative experience at the program or building level.•High level of knowledge regarding Federal and State laws pertaining to individuals with disabilities and the ability to apply the knowledge locally.•Experience in assessing program needs, writing proposals and evaluating programs.
