The Arlington School District is seeking the ideal candidate to assume the role of Arlington Memorial Middle High School Principal. The principal shall use leadership, organizational, supervisory, and managerial skills to promote the effective and efficient operations of the school within Board goals and policies, and to direct the delivery of educational services to maximize student learning. Candidates will provide collaborative leadership in the following areas:Promote a positive and supportive school climate that fosters academic success for all studentsAbility to lead and facilitate collaborative professional teams to develop and meet school effectiveness goalsProvide a safe and secure educational environment, including behavior managementEnsure implementation of approved curriculum, research-based instructional strategies, and assessments to meet student achievement goalsProvide professional development opportunities that align with the School/District strategic plansDevelop positive collaborative relationships between families, staff, school, and communityIn conjunction with administrators, interview candidates and make recommendations to the Superintendent for hiring highly qualified staffJob RequirementsMust hold or be eligible for a Vermont Principal CertificationCompetence in the Core Leadership Standards for Vermont Educators required by the Vermont Standards Board for Professional EducatorsDemonstrated educational leadership ability to meet school improvement goalsDemonstrated planning, budgeting and organizational skillsDemonstrated successful teaching and educational leadership experienceDemonstrated skill in improving instruction and increasing student learning through a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS)Willingness to take sensible risks to implement research-based strategies for effective teaching and learningAbility to view education from a District perspective, and work as a collaborative administrative partnerAbility to communicate effectively with staff, administration and the community to build understanding and a positive school imageSkills in the areas of effective research-based instruction, program evaluation, and data-based decision makingAbility to discriminate between the demands of numerous constituencies for available financial resources and utilize these resources in the most efficient mannerSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptableMaster degree preferred.
