New York State license/registration. Pediatric experience preferred.Basic Function:Evaluate the need for and provide services in occupational therapy for identified children with motor goals written on their IFSP/IEP.Responsibilities:Perform diagnostic testing to evaluate the need for programs of occupational therapy.Develop and update occupational therapy goals for each child.Participate in team planning and receive input from other team members.Provide the OT input in IFSP/IEP planning.Educate staff in aspects of OT through in-serviceMaintain written and oral communication with parents/caregivers.Collaborate with therapists, family service providers, and health services specialists.Supervise OT staff, COTA and is the clinical coordinator of OT interns.Consult and collaborate with other professional staff in evaluating and planning care for children.Attend designated meetings associated with this position.Maintain professional growth in the field of OT.Engage in professional growth by keeping informed of the new trends and technology by visiting other programs, and by attending relevant in-services and conferences.Adhere to policies and procedures established by Story Place Preschool, Inc. in the Policies and Procedures Handbook as well as the Employee HandbookProvide assistance to the Preschool Leader as requested. Direct clinical experience of two years in a pediatric setting. Basic Function:Under supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, assists the Occupational Therapist in providing occupational therapy services to the children enrolled in the center based classrooms and related services. The supervising Occupational Therapist determines, through evaluation, the setting of goals and the establishment of a treatment plan. Responsibilities:Provide direct Occupational Therapy services to children as outlined in his/her IEP/IFSP. Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, plan motor groups and other daily activities for children on caseload.Participate in team meetings and receive input from other team members.Provide the OT input in IFSP/IEP discussions. As a member of a planning team, develop an Individual Educational Plan (IEP/IFSP) of children on caseload. Review and update the IEP/IFSP of children on his/her caseload as a member of the planning team.Educate staff in aspects of OT through in-serviceMaintain written and oral communication with parents/caregivers. Prepares appropriate IEP/IFSP reports or letters as requested by the Occupational Therapist.Collaborate with therapists, family service providers, and health services specialists.Consult and collaborate with other professional staff in discussing care for children.Attend designated meetings associated with this position.Maintain professional growth in the field of OT.Engage in professional growth by keeping informed of the new trends and technology by visiting other programs, and by attending relevant in-services and conferences.All reports/letters/attendance forms will be reviewed, approved and signed by the Occupational Therapist.Policy for supervision of the Occupational Therapy Assistant by a licensed Occupational Therapist.a. The licensed Occupational Therapist will perform the evaluation and set the goals (established a plan of care) and will determine, on an initial and ongoing basis, whether the child is appropriate to receive the services of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.b. An initial joint visit with the child, the Occupational Therapy Assistant and the Occupational Therapist will occur.c. Periodic treatment and evaluation by the Occupational Therapist will occur.d. The purpose of the periodic treatment and evaluation is to determine if the pan of care shall be modified in any way.e. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will notify the Occupational Therapist of any change of status, performance or condition of the child.Adhere to the policies and procedures established by Story Place Preschool, Inc in the Employee Handbook.Provide assistance to the Preschool Leader as requested.
