TODDLER TEACHER Title: Toddler Teacher Location: Story Place Preschool, Inc. Person Responsible To: Preschool Leader, Story Place Preschool, Inc. Number of Staff Supervised: 0 Education and/or Experience Prerequisites: Associates Degree or equivalent in early childhood education; Experience working with Toddler children. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: I. Basic Function: Responsible for the daily operation of the classroom and providing a healthy learning environment for each child in the classroom, while collaborating with the special education teacher from Story Place Preschool, Inc. II. Responsibilities: 1. Assist Special Education Teacher and teacher aide in developing plans to carry out IFSP’s for each child in classroom. 2. Participate in team planning meetings. 3. Keep meeting minutes for the team planning meetings. 4. Assist Special Education Teacher and teacher aide in carrying out daily schedules and plans for each child in the classroom. 5. Assist Special Education Teacher and teacher aide in working with small groups of children in the classroom. 6. Assist Special Education Teacher and teacher aide in working with the entire group of children in the classroom. 7. Work with individual children in carrying out their daily plan. 8. Lead small and large groups of children in instructional activities. 9. Supervise children in the classroom in all their daily living activities. 10. Assist children in meeting their daily needs – in unloading from the bus, taking their outdoor clothing off, going to the bathroom, getting ready for snacks or lunch, eating snacks or lunch, going outdoors, getting ready to go home, and getting on the bus. 11. Assist children in participating in all classroom activities. 12. Maintain classroom area, equipment and supplies on a daily basis. 13. Ready classroom area, equipment and supplies for the use during the day. 14. Prepare classroom for lunch or snacks. 15. Clean up classroom area and put equipment and supplies away after lunch, snacks, and the end of the day. 16. Document the daily work of the children in progressing on their IFSP, document daily attendance. 17. Maintain IEP files and other classroom’ reports on a daily or weekly basis. 18. Complete Quarterly Progress Reports on all child care students. 19. Participate in all classroom related planning or in-service groups. 20. Maintain a clean and healthy environment for all children at Story Place Preschool, Inc. 21. Participate in all general staff meetings, classroom meetings, team meetings and in-services. 22. Participate in monthly team reviews of major health and educational issues of each child in the classroom. 23. Participate in the updating of IFSP’s for each child in the classroom on a routinely scheduled basis. 24. Communicate with members of the child’s service team on an as needed basis. 25. Communicate to teacher’s aide about daily plans and schedules for each child on an as needed basis. 26. Communicate with parents of the children in the classroom on an as needed basis. 27. Listen and respond to the questions, concerns, and desires of parents when they visit the classroom to talk about their child’s educational and programming needs. 28. Engage in professional growth by keeping informed of the new trends and technology by visiting other programs, and by attending relevant in-services and conferences. 29. Adhere to policies and procedures established by Story Place Preschool, Inc in the Employee Handbook. 30. Provides assistance to Program Leader as requested.
