The Speech and Language Therapist assumes primary responsibility for providing services for children needing evaluation and/or remediation for speech and language deficits. Duties & Responsibilities:Implement treatment plans as part of therapeutic intervention in the area of speech and language development.Develop and implement IEP goals and objectives.Maintain daily records of student progressReview student progress and submit reports in a timely manner.Submit progress updates and IEP goals in speech for annual reviews, requested reviews and graduating children.Utilize standardized tests as well as clinical observations to assess students’ strengths and deficits and prepare written annual evaluation reports.Provide consultation to classroom staff in the area of speech and language. Participate actively as a member of the school’s interdisciplinary therapeutic team, attend regularly scheduled staff and team meetings.Refer children for additional audiological consultations and medical evaluations when necessary.Provide guidance and workshops to parents in order to enhance the development of speech and language skills in the home.Education & Experience:Master in Speech-Language PathologyNew York State Speech Pathology LicenseNew York State Certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech-Language DisabilitiesOne-year experience with language impaired childrenPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
