The Preschool 1:1 Assistant provides individualized support to a designated student in the preschool program to ensure full participation in all classroom routines and activities. This position plays a key role in promoting student safety, independence, and social-emotional development while following the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) Duties and Responsibilities: · Provide direct support to an assigned student throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, classroom activities, therapy sessions, specials, and outdoor play. · Assist with toileting, diapering, feeding, and hygiene according to the student’s developmental level and IEP needs, following all health and safety protocols. · Support the student’s participation in academic, play-based, and social activities, encouraging independence whenever possible. · Implement behavior support plans, reinforcement systems, and strategies as directed by the teacher or behavior specialist. · Monitor the student’s engagement and help them transition between activities smoothly and safely. · Maintain close supervision of the student at all times to ensure safety in the classroom, hallways, playground, cafeteria, and during school events. · Assist with preparing materials, organizing classroom spaces, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. · Support other students and classroom routines as directed by the teacher, while prioritizing the assigned student’s needs. · Other duties performed as needed Education & Experience: · High School Diploma or Equivalent · At least one (1) year of experience working with special education students preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: · Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with young children with diverse needs. · Ability to follow teacher directions and work as part of a collaborative team. · Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. · Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment Work Environment & Physical Requirements: · Able to lift a child weighing 40 pounds
