The Red Hook Central School District is seeking a NYS Certified Teaching Assistant to support students at the high school level in their school-to-work experiences. The position will primarily work with students in an 8:1:1 special education classroom as their job coach and school-to-work transitional support. The TA may also work with the classroom teacher to support all students in the class with job readiness skills. School-to-work students will be working at jobs in the district and at businesses out of the district. The TA will be responsible for developing relationships with employers inside and outside the district and will accompany students to and from their job sites while providing job coaching at the sites.Duties may include:working with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects;providing the teacher/case manager with information about students that will assist the teacher/case manager in the development of appropriate learning experiences and supports;assisting students in the use of available instructional/job readiness resources, and assisting in the development of instructional/job readiness materials;utilizing their own special skills and abilities by assisting in job readiness programs both on and off campus;assisting in related instructional work as required;the position may require work with students after school with a flexed schedule based on the students’ job placements. Applicants must hold a NYS Teaching Assistant certificate.
