The Red Hook Central School District seeks an innovative Computer Science Teacher to develop and instruct computer science courses for grades 6-8 at the middle level with a start date of September 1, 2025.The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore technology, develop critical thinking skills, and build a strong foundation in computing concepts through engaging instruction. They will use their skills to provide students with innovative learning opportunities, sustain an inclusive environment, build strong relationships with students, and teach to students across a range of academic abilities and identities. They will also be responsible for collaborating to help grow the Computer Science program at Red Hook. Qualifications:A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Technology Education or related field from an accredited college or university.Hold a NYSED Certification in Computer Science or Technology Education.Practical understanding of coding and programming, JavaScript, AI/ChatGPT, Python Preferred Skills:Experience with block-based programming languages (Scratch, Blockly)Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or other languages appropriate for beginnersKnowledge of computer science teaching frameworks and standardsExperience with educational technology tools and learning management systemsBackground in AI/Chat GPT, robotics, game development, or other engaging CS applications Applicants must upload the following: cover letter, resume, 3 letters of recommendation, copy of certification(s), and copy of college transcript(s).
