Job Description:Pathfinder School is a small and supportive environment that leads students to discover their talents, develop friendships, and experience independence. We offer a year-round program that supports each student's academic growth, social and emotional health, vocational skills, and emerging independence. Pathfinder School is a New York State approved educational program for children ages 5 to 21 years with autism, Down syndrome, and other disabilities.Pathfinder School is a part of Pathfinder Village, a dynamic, open-access residential community for children and adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.Pathfinder School is seeking candidates for the Speech-Language Pathologist position in accordance with Pathfinder Village's mission: "that each life may find meaning."Responsibilities:Evaluate students' communication disorders and make thoughtful recommendationsDevelop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goalsConsult with staff and parents to support each student's communication needsWork collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary teamAssess the efficacy of augmentative communication systems in supporting meaningful interactions and encouraging independenceQualifications:Hold a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication DisordersASHA CCC or CF eligibleNYS licensure in Speech-Language Pathology or will be eligible following completion of a CFYHold certification for TSSLD (Certificate for Teaching Students with Speech-Language Disabilities) or will be in pursuit of their TSSLD or TSHH (Certificate for Teaching of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped)Clinical Fellows are welcome and encouraged to apply! Jump start your career with a comprehensive and rewarding experience working in the field of special education. At Pathfinder School, you will gain valuable skills on the journey to becoming a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Under the supervision of an ASHA-certified and State-license SLP, Clinical Fellows will screen, diagnose and provide treatment to children ages 5 to 21 with communication delays. After the successful completion of the fellowship, you will receive your ASHA CCCs and your New York State License.
