Position SummaryThis position is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive child development program and an integrated infant/toddler curriculum for home-based and center- based services in accordance with Early Head Start standards and Early Childhood Developmental Disabilities Standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Support and monitor the implementation of selected curricula, and all related child development services in Early Head Start programmingEnsure full implementation to fidelity of Creative Curriculum, supplemental curricula and the Pyramid Model Framework, as well as Teaching Strategies Gold Child Assessment SystemDirect and support classroom teachers with developing and implementing classroom management and instructional plans based on a student’s Individualized Family Service Plan/ Individualized Education Plan and ensure that their lesson plans are differentiated to meet the needs of all studentsSupervise home-based staff and ensure delivery of the full range of services through visits with the child's parents, primarily in the child's home and through group socializationsRepresent and support the Head Start Program through collaboration with Local Education Agency and other community agencies and professional organizationsAttend Individualized Family Service Plan and Individualized Education Plan meetings to represent the program and to support parentsProvide oversight and work in partnership families and the Schenectady County Early Intervention Program and the Committee for Preschool Special Education, therapists, and other providers to ensure that the needs of children are metAssist with planning and providing orientation, pre-service and in-service training for staff which is based on the individual needs of staff, child outcomes data, self-assessment results, and mental health and disabilities component observations at centerDevelop and provide ongoing training and consultation regarding infant/toddler developmentParticipate in the child selection and enrollment process.Maintain confidentiality in all mattersCoordinate with EHS staff to ensure that socialization group planning includes a focus on Child Development and each child’s needs are individualizedAssist with Coordination of management activities, community partnerships and special eventsParticipate as needed in Parent Committee, Socialization Groups, and other Committees as assignedProvide management coverage at the day care center as neededCoordinate screenings and assessments of children in the EHS program, within 45 days of enrolment, and follow up with staff and parents regarding resultsWork with parents and staff to facilitate referrals to the Schenectady County Early Intervention Program and the Committee for Preschool Special Education for evaluations as needed.Other duties as assignedEducation and/or ExperienceRequires a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education with experience in teaching young children who demonstrate developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education with experience in leadership and teaching young children who demonstrate developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges preferred.Knowledge of disabilities, special education and child care services preferred.Must be sensitive to the needs of low income and diverse populations.Certification / LicensureRequires a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
