Join Our Team the Supervisor for Special Education grades 6-12+ - this is an 11 month position. Learn more about our district here https://www.newfairfieldschools.orgWe are seeking to hire a dynamic leader; the successful candidate will play a role in shaping high our secondary special education programs. Supervise the identification and evaluation process for students with disabilities. This duty includes serving as the administrator at Planning and Placement Team meetings. Collaborate with school and district educators to develop plans and recommendations for the inclusion of students with disabilities in all aspects of the educational program. Supervise and administer all middle school, high school and transition programs for children with disabilities. Monitor the operation of programs for children with disabilities in accordance with state and federal law, policies, procedures and guidelines. Supervise and evaluate special education and Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) staff in conjunction with the Director of PPS and building administrators. Assist in the hiring, training, and professional development of special education teachers, related service staff, and support staff. Coordinate and facilitate ongoing professional learning opportunities for staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in special education best practices. Analyze data related to student achievement and program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement. Maintain information on and liaison with other public and private agencies and individuals who provide services to students with disabilities in the district. Communicate effectively and proactively with families as partners in support of student growth and transitions. Address and resolve concerns related to special education services, compliance, and parent/community engagement.Qualifications Valid Connecticut teaching certification (or eligible) appropriate to the specific assignment; or equivalent NY certification. CT Certification as an Intermediate Administrator (092) and in one or more of the fields of the Supervisor’s responsibility (e.g. special education or related services), or equivalent NY certification. Minimum five years of experience in special education or related services. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of special education and Section 504 laws, policies, compliance procedures and best practices.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including educators, families, and community partners.Salary as per the NFAA contract.For more information or for a full job description feel free to contact lloyd.rebecca@newfairfieldschools.org
