About the PositionNew Fairfield High School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our Resource Room team. The successful candidate will provide individualized and small-group instruction to students in grades 9â12 with diverse learning needs, ensuring that each student has the supports necessary to access the general education curriculum and achieve their academic and personal goals.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct instruction, intervention, and support in a Resource Room setting for students with IEPs.Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, colleagues, and related service providers.Adapt curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs while aligning with CT Core Standards.Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching practices.Track and report student progress using data-driven methods.Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws and district policies.Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, self-advocacy, and social-emotional growth.QualificationsValid Connecticut State Department of Education certification in Comprehensive Special Education, Grades Kâ12 (165) or equivalent endorsement required.Experience working with high school students in a Resource Room or similar setting preferred.Strong knowledge of IEP development, differentiation, and evidence-based instructional practices.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
