POSITION SUMMARY: Provide mentoring services in home to families of preschool students. PRIMARY DUTIES: Family support and consultationProvide services in the homeProvide families with information in areas defined by the curriculum; ASL Language, Deaf History, Visual Communication, and Deaf CulturePerform other related duties as required and assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to engage with parents/families, students, and colleaguesAmerican Sign Language (ASL) proficiency requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Trained in the SKI*HI Deaf Mentor ProgramRegents or Local High School Diploma, or GED required.Experience working with deaf students SECURITY CLEARANCE: Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR, and SEL clearance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to lift 15 pounds at times
