Position: School-based Speech-Language PathologistDivision: Speech DepartmentSupervisor: Speech Department CoordinatorEmployment Term: Full Time. 10-month position – Benefit EligibleFLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARYPromote communicative and linguistic competence and optimize outcomes for profoundly deaf students 3-21 years of age. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESJob responsibilities include but are not limited to:Planning and implementing individualized intervention strategies that foster communicative competence.Collaborating/consulting with classroom teachers.Selecting and conducting appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.Preparing evaluation summaries and annual review reports.Develop treatment plans (IEPs) that are strength-based for overall educational improvement.Participating in IEP meetings.Engaging in continuing education and professional growth activities.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES· Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL)· Excellent interpersonal skills· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesAbility to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriateProficiency in American Sign Language required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECandidates must have the following credentials:CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited programASHA membershipTSHH or TSSLD certificateKnowledge of American Sign LanguageExperience working with Deaf students is desirable SECURITY CLEARANCERequired clearance includes medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, and SCR and SEL clearance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Prolonged periods of walking around in and outside of the building.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
