Position Summary: Promote communicative and linguistic competence and optimize outcomes for profoundly deaf students 3-21 years of agePrimary Duties and Responsibilities:Planning and implementing individualized intervention strategies that foster communicative competenceCollaborate/consult with classroom teachersSelect and conduct appropriate assessments based on individual student needsPrepare evaluation summaries and annual review reportsDevelop treatment plans (IEPs) that are strength-based for overall educational improvementParticipate in IEP meetingsEngage in continuing education and professional growth activitiesPerform other job related duties as needed and assigned by supervisorRequired Skills & Abilities:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriateProficiency in American Sign Language requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related softwareEducation and Experience:CCC-SLP requiredMasters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited programASHA MembershipTSHH or TSSLD CertificateExperience working with deaf students strongly preferredSecurity Clearance:Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR and SEL clearancePhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerProlonged periods of walking in and outside the buildingMust be able to lift 15 pounds at times
