Special Education Teacher (Kâ12) The Liverpool Central School District is seeking qualified, student-centered educators for Probationary and Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher positions for the 2026â2027 school year. This posting will be used to identify highly qualified candidates for current and future vacancies. Successful candidates will: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, and well-being. Differentiate instruction and implement evidence-based instructional strategies to meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students with disabilities across grade levels. Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and collaborate with related service providers to ensure appropriate supports and services are provided. Assess student progress, maintain required documentation, and use data to inform instructional decisions and IEP development. Establish effective classroom management practices that foster a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment. Communicate regularly with families, colleagues, administrators, and multidisciplinary team members regarding student progress and needs. Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to promote inclusive practices and student success. Perform all other professional responsibilities expected of special education teachers and assigned by the building principal. Minimum Qualifications: Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Students with Disabilities (All Grades) or another appropriate New York State Special Education certification for the assigned grade level. Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws, regulations, IEP development, and effective instructional practices for students with disabilities. Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills. Commitment to fostering an equitable, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching students with disabilities Knowledge of differentiated instruction, MTSS, positive behavioral supports, and evidence-based intervention practices. Experience collaborating in inclusive classrooms and co-teaching environments. Experience integrating instructional technology to support diverse learners.
