Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Certified Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), as a member of the educational team, supports the education of students suspected of and/or diagnosed with a disability in their least restrictive environment. The Physical Therapy Assistant implements and provides intervention services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.Essential Functions:Ensures safety of studentsMaintain student service, administrative and other departmental records in accordance with the district, state and federal policiesAdhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practiceImplement the physical therapy program within the pre-school settingImplement intervention strategiesReport on student progressCommunicate, collaborate, and consult with school staff, parents, administratorsServe as a resource to parent, school team, staff and administration on disabling conditions and their effects on educationProvide consultation to classroom and special education teachersParticipate with improving school accessibility and planning environmental modificationSeek regular opportunities for professional growthProvide guidance to students to promote their educational developmentAssist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing students with disabilitiesObserve ethics of the teaching profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgmentMaintain respect for confidential information, e.g. student educational/medical records and assessments including psychological evaluationsAttend meetings and in-services as requiredOther Duties and Responsibilities:Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parentsPromote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversationDemonstrates regular and punctual attendance and positive work ethicPerform other duties as assigned by the PT SupervisorQualifications:Proof of current or pending NYS Physical Therapist Assistant License2 years experience preferredJob Type: Part-time.
