Lead Teacher – part timeMonday to Wednesday 8:30 AM to Noon. JCCMW is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the community by providing cultural, social, educational, recreational/fitness programs, human services, and Jewish identity-building opportunities to people of all ages and backgrounds. JCCMW programs serve people through all stages of life: young children, teens, adults, and seniors.JCCMW has served the greater Westchester community since 1955 and is located on the border of New Rochelle, NY and Scarsdale, NY. This dynamic, engaging community center serves over 10,000 people each year.The Early Childhood Center at the JCCMW is hiring a Lead Nursery School Teacher for our White Plains school. Position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of a group of children and will work in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Nursery School Director. This candidate must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well with children and be willing to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance with the programs philosophies. This candidate must be able to maintain a professional manner towards the children, families and co-workers at all times and be able to communicate professionally and openly. The person selected for this position must possess the educational requirements of a lead teacher as outlined by the program's licensing agency (minimum of a CDA is required).Additional Requirements· Bachelor’s degree including or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related fieldor· Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related fieldor· Child Development Associate and 1 year experience related to caring for childrenor· 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field with a plan of study leading to one of the above and 2 year experience related to caring for childrenEssential FunctionsKeep a daily lesson plan log.Design the classroom to facilitate child exploration and social interaction while eliminating safety hazards.Utilize a multi-sensory teaching approach to encourage development of each child's language skills.Provide a structured learning environment that operates within a positive based behavioral support methodology.Encourage socialization and physical play in children.Supervise classroom teacher assistants/teacher aides and serve as a role model to meet the goal that all students have appropriate and positive learning experiences.Communicate regularly with parents and staff.Participate in weekly staff meetings.Follow the health, safety, confidentiality, emergency and other protocols of the JCC of Mid-Westchester Nursery SchoolJob Type: Part-timeThe JCC Mid-Westchester is an equal opportunity employer.
