The Henry Johnson Charter School is a unique organization, and we currently have an opening for a full-time special education teacher. Successful candidates must have a valid NYS certification. There is an annual merit-based performance bonus of up to 10% of the salary based on objective predetermined goals. All applications will be accepted through OLAS only. This will be an on-going process until the position is filled.The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage in various instructional models including consultant teacher services, integrated co-teaching, and Resource Room. This candidate will work in partnership with their general education colleagues with the shared goal of improving our curriculum and instruction in literacy instruction and our mathematics curriculum, for all students to access. Proven experience with administering and interpreting standardized educational evaluations, developing and implementing accommodations and modifications within a general education setting, skills in developing IEPs with student-specific goals and data-driven progress monitoring. Assists teaching staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans. Experience with phonics-based reading programs desired but not required.
