G&D Schoolhouse is seeking Special Education Teachers for our special education preschool program. Our preschool provides services to children ages 3 to 5 years of age with developmental delays and other needs. Qualifications: New York State Special Education Teacher Certification, Birth to 2nd gradePediatric Experience (preferred)Strong interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-taskMust have strong command of the English language, written and spoken Friendly, caring, outgoing personality Ability to proficiently navigate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office softwareFamiliarity with all facets of Preschool Special EducationAn understanding of special education processes including familiarity or experience with CPSE/CSE meetingsAn understanding of lesson plan development and play-based instructionExperience with preschoolers within a classroom setting Responsibilities: Classroom Essential Functions*Prepare the educational environment with appropriate learning materials*Create a daily routine to provide stability and a variety of learning opportunities for students*Create visual supports to help students' participation in daily routines*Individualize daily learning activities to the level and specific needs appropriate for each child*Provide behavior support to students exhibiting maladaptive behaviors*Model appropriate social skills to support and foster peer interactions*Supervise teacher's assistants/aides assigned to classroomLearning/Curriculum Essential Functions*Should have working knowledge and understanding of NYS preschool learning standards*Create lesson plans and activities that encompass a wide range of educational expectations*Incorporate daily living skills as part of the classroom learning with routines associated with mealtime, toileting, etc.*Present daily individualized lessons and learning activities that present students with engaging ways of learning*Expose children to a multitude of learning mediums including, but not limited to, manipulatives, paper, books, etc., to help support learning*Daily lessons developed to meet cognitive levels of the students in the classroom*Daily lessons that incorporate communication, fine motor, sensory integration, gross motor, and social development Document Essential Functions*Assessment and tracking of student progress toward Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals*Complete quarterly IEP progress notes in IEP Direct/Frontline or other web-based programs provided by the student's school district*Regular use of the ESDM or other director-approved assessment measure to ensure appropriate tracking of progress and needs*Ability to write professional reports including annual comprehensive progress reports to be presented at the students' annual CPSE meetingPay: Salary starts at $60,000 and is dependent upon level of experience. Employees are provided with a time-off calendar that coincides with federal holidays and school breaks. Additionally, sick days and personal days are provided on an accrual basis.
