( http://www.olasjobs.org/longisland ) Position Overview Freeport High School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Health Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The successful candidate will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment while delivering engaging health education aligned with New York State Learning Standards. This educator will empower students to make informed decisions that promote lifelong physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging health education lessons that meet New York State standards. Teach topics including nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, healthy relationships, personal wellness, human growth and development, and decision-making skills. Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners. Assess student learning and provide timely, meaningful feedback. Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, administrators, and families to support student success. Integrate technology and evidence-based instructional practices into daily instruction. Maintain accurate student records and comply with district policies and state regulations. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities as assigned. Qualifications Required: New York State Certification in Health Education (or eligibility for certification). Bachelor's degree in Health Education or a related field. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and student achievement. Preferred: Master’s degree in health education or related discipline. Experience teaching health education at the secondary level. Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL), trauma-informed practices, and culturally responsive teaching. Experience integrating instructional technology into the classroom Bilingual or multilingual Coaching experience
