Position Description: The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a forward-thinking, technology-driven Library Media Specialist to lead a modern library media program that supports 21st-century teaching and learning. The successful candidate will promote literacy, digital fluency, and innovative uses of technology while collaborating with staff to enhance instruction through digital tools, research practices, and media-rich learning experiences. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a dynamic, inclusive library media center that integrates print and digital resources Collaborate with teachers to co-plan and co-teach lessons incorporating information literacy, digital citizenship, and technology integration Provide direct instruction in research skills, media literacy, and evaluation of digital sources Support and promote district instructional technology platforms, including i-Ready (diagnostic and personalized learning), Clever (single sign-on and application access), and ClassLink (digital resource management and access) Assist students and staff with navigating and utilizing digital learning platforms, databases, and online instructional tools Provide troubleshooting and first-level support for student and staff access to instructional technology systems Design and facilitate innovative programming such as makerspaces, coding, robotics, and digital media production Curate and manage a diverse and equitable collection of resources aligned with curriculum and student needs Provide professional development and ongoing support to staff on instructional technology tools and digital resources Promote cybersecurity awareness, data privacy practices, and ethical use of information Manage library automation systems, digital catalogs, and circulation processes Use data from platforms (e.g., i-Ready usage and progress monitoring) to support instructional decision-making in collaboration with staff Create a welcoming, student-centered environment that fosters inquiry, creativity, and independent learning Qualifications: Valid NYS Certification as a School Library Media Specialist Demonstrated experience integrating instructional technology into classroom practice Strong knowledge of digital research tools, databases, and online learning platforms Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and/or other educational technology ecosystems Familiarity with library management systems and digital cataloging tools Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in both resources and access to technology Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a diverse school district Bilingual (Spanish or Haitian Creole) candidates encouraged to apply Experience with digital learning platforms such as i-Ready , Clever , and/or ClassLink Experience supporting 1:1 device programs and troubleshooting basic technology issues Experience with makerspaces, STEM/STEAM initiatives, or instructional technology coaching Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI tools, multimedia production, and blended/virtual learning environments
