Job Posting: CSE/CPSE ChairpersonJob Summary:The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a dedicated CSE/CPSE Chairperson to facilitate and support the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). This role focuses on ensuring effective meetings, compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaboration with evaluation teams, while providing essential support for special education services within the district.Key Responsibilities:Facilitate Meetings: Chair and manage CSE/CPSE meetings, including preparing agendas, guiding discussions, and ensuring that all necessary topics are covered.Ensure IEP Compliance: Assist in the creation and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure they meet federal, state, and local guidelines. Monitor IEP implementation and address any issues of non-compliance.Collaborate with Teams: Work with evaluation teams, teachers, and parents to gather information and ensure that decisions about special education services are well-informed and effective.Support Special Education Programs: Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of special education programs and services by providing feedback and support based on meeting outcomes and observations.Documentation: Keep accurate records of CSE/CPSE meetings, decisions, and related correspondence. Assist in preparing reports and maintaining documentation as required.Engage with Families: Support positive communication with families, addressing their questions and concerns, and keeping them informed about the IEP process and outcomes.Assist with Compliance: Help ensure that the district’s special education practices comply with legal and district requirements, and address any compliance issues as they arise.Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the special education needs of the district.Qualifications:Education: Master’s degree in Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.Certification: Valid New York State certification in Special Education or a related field.Experience: Experience working in special education, including familiarity with IEP processes and special education regulations.Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups including families, teachers, and evaluation teams.Attributes: Detail-oriented, empathetic, and proactive in addressing and resolving issues.
