Job Posting: Instructional Coordinator – Elementary (Literacy) LOCATION: Districtwide – Elementary Schools START DATE: TBD TYPE: Full-time, 12-month position DEADLINE: Open Until Filled POSITION OVERVIEW: The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a highly qualified, innovative instructional leader to serve as an Instructional Literacy Coordinator Elementary. This district-level leadership position plays a key role in advancing high-quality, standards-aligned literacy instruction across elementary schools. The coordinator will support classroom teachers, instructional teams, and school leaders by promoting effective teaching practices, facilitating professional development, and guiding the implementation of a cohesive and rigorous ELA curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in literacy, a proven record of improving instructional outcomes, and the ability to lead and collaborate across schools. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a district leader and content-area expert in elementary English Language Arts instruction. Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to enhance curriculum planning, instructional delivery, and assessment practices. Provide direct, job-embedded support to teachers through co-planning, modeling, and instructional feedback. Lead the implementation of NYS Next Generation ELA Standards across elementary grade levels. Design and deliver high-impact professional development focused on literacy instruction, differentiation, and data-driven decision-making. Support the analysis and integration of assessment data to inform instruction and interventions. Assist in the selection and alignment of instructional materials, digital resources, and curricular tools. Promote culturally responsive and inclusive practices that meet the needs of a diverse student population. Participate in curriculum reviews, districtwide initiatives, and instructional leadership teams. Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendents of Instruction. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Valid New York State School District Leader (SDL) certification Valid NYS teaching certification in Childhood Education, Literacy, or a related field Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in an elementary classroom Demonstrated expertise in ELA instruction, curriculum development, and instructional leadership Experience providing professional development and/or instructional coaching to educators Strong communication, collaboration, facilitation, and organizational skills Evidence of exemplary professional conduct and consistent attendance Preferred: Experience in district-level or school-based instructional leadership roles Familiarity with research-based literacy practices and the Science of Reading Training or experience with Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CRSE) Proficiency with data analysis platforms and formative assessment strategies APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested applicants should apply through OLASjobs.org with a resume and cover letter The East Ramapo Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in leadership.
