Job Posting: Instructional Coordinator – Multilingual Learner Education (MLE), Grades K–6POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coordinator – Multilingual Learner Education (MLE), Grades K–6 LOCATION: Districtwide – Elementary Schools (Grades K–6)START DATE: July 1, 2025 APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until FilledPOSITION OVERVIEW:The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a culturally responsive and equity-focused instructional leader to serve as the Instructional Coordinator for Multilingual Learner Education (MLE), Grades K–6. This leadership position supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of effective instructional practices for English Language Learners (ELLs)/Multilingual Learners (MLLs) at the elementary level.The MLE Instructional Coordinator will collaborate with ENL/bilingual and general education teachers, building administrators, and curriculum teams to promote language-rich, inclusive learning environments that foster academic achievement and English language development.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as a district-level leader and expert in instructional practices for MLLs/ELLs in grades K–6.Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate, research-based strategies for second language acquisition and biliteracy.Co-plan, model, and provide coaching to general education and ENL/bilingual teachers to enhance language-integrated content instruction.Review and assist with lesson plans and instructional materials to ensure alignment with NYS Next Generation Standards and NYSESLAT performance expectations.Design and lead high-quality professional development sessions focused on ENL/bilingual pedagogy, culturally responsive teaching, and instructional differentiation.Guide the analysis and use of language proficiency and academic data to inform instructional planning, interventions, and progress monitoring.Assist schools in coordinating and administering NYSITELL and NYSESLAT assessments in collaboration with school-based teams.Identify and recommend instructional resources that are culturally and linguistically responsive and appropriate for early learners.Foster strong partnerships with multilingual families through engagement strategies that honor home language and culture.Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to MLL/ELL education at the K–6 level.Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendents of Instruction. QUALIFICATIONS:Required:Valid New York State School District Leader (SDL) certificationNYS TESOL Certification or Bilingual ExtensionMinimum of five (5) years of successful ENL or bilingual teaching experience in New York State, with tenureExpertise in second language acquisition and early literacy instruction for multilingual learnersDemonstrated success supporting MLLs in an elementary (K–6) settingExperience designing and facilitating professional developmentStrong communication, collaboration, and leadership skillsDemonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural responsivenessPreferred:Experience in a district- or school-based instructional leadership roleTraining in Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CRSE) practicesBilingual (Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred)APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested applicants should apply through OLASjobs.org with a resume and cover letterThe East Ramapo Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
