Position Summary:The CPSE/CSE Coordinator is responsible for supervising the work of CPSE/CSE Chairpersons, ensuring compliance with NYSED regulations, and fostering effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role involves observing CPSE/CSE staff members and providing professional development (PD) for chairpersons, monitoring corrective action plans, creating and implementing systems and procedures, and facilitating CPSE/CSE meetings as needed.Key Responsibilities:Supervision and Observation:Observe CPSE/CSE Chairpersons during meetings and other related activities to ensure compliance with district policies and NYSED regulations.Provide constructive feedback and support to chairpersons to enhance their effectiveness in their roles.Monitor and evaluate the performance of CPSE/CSE Chairpersons, ensuring consistency and quality in their work.Professional Development:Develop and deliver professional development sessions for CPSE/CSE Chairpersons and other relevant staff.Stay current with best practices and regulatory updates to ensure PD content is relevant and impactful.Facilitate training sessions on the Danielson observation framework to improve instructional quality and student outcomes.Corrective Action Plans:Work with NYSED who shared identified areas needing improvement and create corrective action plans for the Office of Pupil Personnel Monitor the implementation of corrective action plans, providing ongoing support and adjustments as necessary.Ensure that all corrective actions align with district goals and NYSED regulations.Systems and Procedures:Design and implement systems and procedures to streamline CPSE/CSE operations based on NYSED regulations.Regularly review and update procedures to maintain compliance and improve efficiency.Communicate systems and procedures clearly to all relevant stakeholders to ensure consistent application.Collaboration:Work closely with the Office of Pupil Personnel staff to coordinate services and support for students.Collaborate with the district attorney and Rockland County agencies to address legal and compliance issues.Engage with preschool programs to ensure smooth transitions and appropriate services for young children.Facilitation of Meetings:Facilitate CPSE/CSE meetings when necessary, ensuring they are conducted effectively and efficiently.Ensure that all meetings are compliant with regulatory requirements and that they address the needs of students and their families.Support CPSE/CSE Chairpersons in managing challenging cases and complex situations.Qualifications:Valid NYS Certification SDL/SDA and (Special Education, Students with Disabilities, Speech and Language Disabilities, or School Psychologist) is required.At least three to five years of successful work experience in a school district setting, preferably as a CPSE/CSE ChairpersonThorough understanding of CPSE/CSE guidelines and regulations as related to Special Education servicesExtensive knowledge of psychological and educational testing and evaluations; Ability to problem solve and work effectively with families and various agenciesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral, written, and digital)
