Job DescriptionWe are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Lead Instructor of the district’s Expanded School Year Summer Program. The Lead Instructor supports the Program Director in ensuring the delivery and execution of a successful program by assisting with day-to-day operations such as maintaining student attendance, assisting Instructors in implementing daily scheduled activities, and monitoring children’s progress. The Lead Instructor will assume the role and responsibilities of the Program Director when the director is absent. Students will be provided with interactive learning opportunities, journaling, & peer-discussion groups, while addressing Social-Emotional Learning, & using a growth mindset approach to enrich all students. Great for elementary students who have an interest in science & nature in the outdoors! All Sports Academy (entering Grades 4-8); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThis interdisciplinary program is designed to meet the academic & fitness needs of our young people. Students in grades 4-6 will focus on increasing movement literacy by experiencing a variety of physical activities & games that will contribute to an active & healthy lifestyle without the competitiveness that comes with traditional team sports. In addition, students will be introduced to individual & team sports offered at East Ramapo CSD. Computer Science Academy (entering Grade 1-8); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThis institute is hands-on, experiential learning with a focus on the cognitive skills to build student capacity to become innovators, creators, & critical thinkers. Fine and Performing Arts Academy (entering Grades 1-12); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayIn addition to music tutoring & lessons, the Fine & Performing Arts Academy program will grow the academic capacity of students through an artistic lens. Culminating demonstrations of learning range from musical concerts to performing or publishing original music, theatrical creations, or poetry. Freshman Academy (entering Grade 9); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThe Freshman Academy program will provide both academic and emotional support for students entering high school through orientation activities, assistance with study skills and organizational habits, and proactive postsecondary-planning guidance to support students throughout high school. Students will also learn social-emotional skills, identify personal behaviors that may affect their success in high school, and identify and reflect on their goals for the future. Qualifications NYS teaching certification Experience, preferably in education field associated with program of interest Familiarity with Google applications Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion Pre-Program Responsibilities Attend approximately 10 hours of pre-program preparation and planning meetings with Program Director to specify additional program related responsibilities Program Responsibilities Reports to the Program Director Assists Program Director with the distribution of resources and materials to support the program Provide staff with co-teaching or coaching support in meeting curriculum expectations Maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding program updates and progress. Organization of breakfast and lunch distribution Supports program development and implementation Co-facilitates staff training and learning Serves a temporary substitute teacher in event instructor is absent Troubleshoot instructor and student issues with support from Program Director Interacts daily with staff and students Answers inquiries (in-person, via email or via phone) in a timely fashion Assist in the arrival and dismissal of students Adhere to NYSPHSAA Heat Index Procedures for outdoor activities Heat Index for Cabinet Review Perform additional/related duties as assigned by the Program Director Dates/Days/HoursPreparation and Planning: Additional hours outside of the summer program dates not to exceed 10 hours Wednesday, July 5th, Thursday, July 6th, Friday, July and Thursday staff development days August 18th to close programProgram: July 11-August 18; Monday thru Thursday; * - Staff Development Session Tentative SalaryPreparation and Planning: $1,500 stipendProgram: $48/hour (6 hours per day)
