Qualifications of applicants:Valid NYS District certificate required (SDA/SDL)At least five years of successful teaching experience at the secondary levelAt least three years of successful leadership as a school or district administratorDuties of the position:The Executive Director of Secondary Education, Grades 7-12, assists the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction by enhancing curriculum development, teaching and learning, and assessment. This role focuses on strengthening the instructional leadership capacity of principals and school leaders to improve teaching conditions and student outcomes.Administrative and Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupport to the Assistant Superintendent: Provide leadership in the improvement of instruction, organization, and operation of the secondary program, in alignment with the District’s Long Term Strategic Plan.Supervision: Observe, evaluate, and provide feedback to secondary principals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Educational LeadershipCurriculum Development: Lead the development and implementation of quality instruction for secondary-level students.Data Analysis: Utilize data to inform instructional practices and improve student outcomes.Leader Support: Serve as a resource to administration and school leadership teams to assist in creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Professional DevelopmentContinual Learning: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of current practices, programs, and legal issues.Mentoring: Provide mentoring to school leaders to enhance their instructional leadership capacity.Collaboration and CommunicationStakeholder Interaction: Articulate strategic initiatives and align programs and policies to various stakeholders, including parents, outside agencies, businesses, and the community, to enhance understanding and solicit support.Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Executive Directors, Directors, School Administrators, and other staff to ensure learners have access to the best possible services.Additional DutiesAdvanced and Post-Secondary Programs: Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of advanced and post-secondary programs, ensuring proper staffing and enrollment.Disciplinary Hearings: Conduct student disciplinary hearings and complete related documentation within mandated time frames.Alignment of Goals: Anchor secondary goals to the District’s Academic and Fiscal Strategic plans, providing support for building-specific School Comprehensive Education Plans (SCEP).Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): Provide expertise in the development and implementation of academic and social-emotional supports.Assessment Administration: Ensure proper administration, scoring, and reporting of all NYS assessments in grades 7-12.Master Scheduling Team: Alongside the Executive Director of Elementary, lead the District’s Master Scheduling team.
