Executive Director of Multilingual EducationLocation: DistrictwideType: Full-time, 12 month positionStart Date: July 1, 2025 (or sooner, if available)Application Deadline: Open until filled Position Overview:The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a visionary and dedicated educational leader to serve as the Executive Director of Multilingual Education. Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Multilingual Education, the Executive Director will lead and manage programs for English as a New Language (ENL), Bilingual Education, World Languages, and Central Registration. This position demands a deep understanding of multilingual learner needs, a strong equity-focused mindset, and an ability to align instructional programming with New York State regulations, including CR Part 154. The Executive Director must have proven success related to improving student performance. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with and support the Assistant Superintendent of Multilingual Education in strategic planning and implementation.Lead the design, development, and refinement of instructional practices across ENL, Bilingual Education, and World Language programs.Oversee and monitor the Central Registration process and ensure timely, accurate placement of multilingual learners.Supervise department directors and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality instructional support and professional learning for educators, counselors, and administrators.Provide guidance for the ELL identification and placement process, including NYSITELL and NYSESLAT administration.Ensure appropriate scheduling and service delivery for ELLs, including Students with Interrupted Formal Education (SIFE).Provide support to Language Proficiency Teams (LPTs) and ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state mandates.Foster strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and stakeholders to advance multilingual initiatives.Demonstrate and promote NYSED’s Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework across all programming.Oversee the Seal of Biliteracy initiative and promote biliteracy opportunities for all students.Lead district-level data analysis to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of multilingual education programming.Represent the district in leadership meetings with NYSED and the Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL).Host regular parent meetings and provide ongoing communication to support ENL and Bilingual families.Actively participate in school-based activities and community events. Ensure department compliance through written protocols and procedures for identification, placement, data collection, and reporting.Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent. Required Qualifications: Valid NYS School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification.Deep knowledge of CR Part 154, multilingual learner needs, and culturally responsive practices.Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Bilingual (Spanish preferred).Experience in multilingual education leadership within a large, diverse public school district.Demonstrated success building programs that support multilingual learners and their families.
