We pride ourselves on our supportive staff, strong community partnerships, and commitment to providing opportunities for all learners.Job Description:Alexander Hamilton Jr/Sr. High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Social Studies Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. The focus will be mostly in grades 7-10Responsibilities:Develop and implement engaging and rigorous lesson plans aligned with New York State Learning Standards for Social Studies.Create a positive classroom environment that fosters student participation, critical thinking, and collaboration.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the learning needs of all students.Assess student learning through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide timely and meaningful feedback.Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success.Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development opportunities, and curriculum development.Supervise students in various school settings.Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).Valid New York State teaching certification in Social Studies (grades 7-12 or equivalent).Demonstrated knowledge of social studies content and pedagogy.Experience developing and implementing differentiated instruction.Strong classroom management skills.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.Experience using technology to enhance instruction and assessment.Preferred Qualifications:Bi-lingual certification (Spanish preferred) and the ability to provide instruction and support to English Language Learners.
