JOB TITLE: SCHOOL DISTRICT AUDITORDEPARTMENT: Business OfficeSUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent for Business Job Duties and Responsibilities - Provide guidance to all district employees on budgetary coding and available balances- Ensures that purchases are in accordance with school board policy and law- Audit monthly financial reports to BOE for all funds- Audit fund balance projections during budget development- Member of Audit and Finance Committee- Audit coding of all revenue transactions: state aid, PILOTS and tax payments- Calculate, record and review state aid receivable- Prepare cash flows for TAN/BAN/Bond borrowings- Analyze and project restricted reserves appropriation and replenishment- Calculate health insurance rate for pay periods for 10 month and 12 month employees- Reconcile Medicaid payments and federal aid payments- Supervise and reconcile annual Medicare reimbursement- Audit performance of payroll and accounts payable runs and approve corresponding documents- Supervise employees in departments of the Business Office: Accounts Payable, Payroll, Benefits, and Purchasing- Prepare supporting schedules for all funds for financial audit- Prepare closing entries for year-end: Accruals, payables, liabilities and prepaid expenditures- Prepare Form A, Form FT and Form FB in the State Aid Claim Forms- Review open PO’s for liquidation/rollover at year end- Monitor all capital expenditures by vendor and project- Ensure timely filing of NYS SA 139s to maximize state aid- Work with project architect to close out and file Certificates of Substantial Completion on a timely basis- Prepare Final Cost Reports for Capital Projects Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in accounting or business and/orExperience: 10 years in school business accounting, 5 years supervisory experienceOther: MS Office and Google Workplace proficiency; School district financial software proficiency
