ELEMENTARY GENERAL MUSIC K-6 The Central Islip School District, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of K-6 music teacher to foster student growth in music appreciation, performance, and creativity. Responsibilities include teaching K-6 general music and integrating music into the broader school community. This position is General Music Only serving 2 schools in the Central Islip School District without any ensemble or concert responsibilities. The position is a full year leave replacement with the possibility of becoming a tenure track position. Spanish Speaking and strong piano/accompanist skills preferred. Responsibilities include:Preparing and teaching General Music curricula in collaboration with music department colleagues that incorporates singing, movement, and playing Orff instruments, recorders, and ukulele in 2 schools. Strong candidates will:have a background in Orff and ukulelethink creatively and incorporate innovative instructional techniquesinspire and engage all students in general music class settingcollaborate with department and building colleaguesbalance priorities appropriately while remaining prepared and organizeddemonstrate strong piano accompaniment skillsdemonstrate understanding of the NYS Arts Standardsdemonstrate the ability to communicate in English and Spanish Qualifications:Current NYS Music K-12 certification required.
