Leave Replacement: Preschool Special Education TeacherA Starting Place is a special education preschool located in Pearl River, NY that cares for children ages 3-5 years old. We are looking for friendly, organized, and adaptable team players that would like to join our family and help make a difference in a child’s early development. We are in need of a full-time Leave Replacement Teacher to work Monday- Friday, 8:30 am- 4:00 pm beginning April 2025. This position will be for April- August 2025 with a possible full time position in September 2025. Must possess a BS/MS Degree with NYS Certificate for Students with Disabilities from birth through 2nd grade.Some responsibilities for our Special Education Teachers are to:Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needsDesign developmentally appropriate academic and non-academic activities for the classSelect educational materials and activities that are in line with the student’s IEPsProvide instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each studentUtilize learning technology and assistive devices to support student learningCollaborate with other teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a comprehensive educational programOversee and training teacher assistantsMonitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as neededImplement behavioral therapy techniques to promote positive behavior and social skills developmentPlan and facilitate physical education activities to promote gross motor skills and overall physical well-beingCreate a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging for all studentsWrite progress reports/annual reviewsRequirements:Valid Special Education CertificationStudents with Disabilities from Birth to 2nd grade Knowledge of childhood development and early intervention strategiesFamiliarity with learning technology and assistive devices used in special education settingsExperience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with behavioral challengesStrong organizational and time management skills for effective lesson planning and documentationAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parentsNote: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
