Alexandria Central School currently has the following full-time vacancy, which will have an immediate start date: Response to Intervention Specialist This position will be responsible for reading interventions including providing small group instruction, training paraprofessionals, reviewing student data, collaborating and communication with classroom teachers, attending PLC meetings, and providing tier 3 and tier 2 literacy support. Minimum Qualifications: Classroom teaching experience preferred. Experience and/or understanding of At-Risk students; learning interventions, low-achieving students, adolescent development, and motivational strategies preferred. NYS Literacy certification Primary Responsibilities: Assesses students’ educational needs. Provides support to classroom teachers. Provides direct instruction to students. Collaborates with classroom teachers (example, attending team meetings). Establishes objectives for each child in the overall program. Evaluates individual student progress and program goals. Stays current with research on intervention strategies. Provides services to staff on academic support program objectives, and evaluation of students when needed. Assists students in strengthening their study skills. Helps students identify effective learning strategies and develop tools to apply them. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, spelling, writing, and mathematics. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
