The Alexandria Central School District is accepting applications for a tenure-track Library Media Specialist position for August 31, 2026. Multiple certifications are preferred, but not required. A probationary appointment will be based on certification and education, NYS Education Laws, and the ACFA Teacher’s contract. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic educator committed to providing the leadership and expertise required to ensure that the Alexandria School library media program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the school’s instructional program. General Responsibilities: Develop and administer an integrated school library media program that fosters a “learning commons” environment. Instruct students and staff in the effective use of the media center, information literacy, technology skills, and equipment. Evaluate, select, and procure print and digital resources, as well as related equipment, to support learning. Establish policies and procedures for efficient library operation, services, and facility use, ensuring it supports a 21st-century learning environment. Implement a curriculum focused on information and technology literacy, integrated with subject-area curricula in collaboration with teachers. Lead and guide the integration of technology into instruction to create modern, effective teaching strategies. Provide professional development for staff on the use of new information technologies and resources. Recommend and procure resources to support instructional goals and enhance teaching strategies. Desired Qualifications: Experience in teaching information and technology literacy skills, including the research process. Proficiency in evaluating and selecting both print and digital resources. Strong understanding of basic technology, computer operation, and productivity software. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and administrators. Ability to interact effectively with students and staff of varying disciplines and skill levels. Knowledge of instructional methods, strategies, pedagogy, and curriculum development. Understanding of student growth, development, and diverse learning needs. Strong leadership, organizational, and budget management skills. Experience with 21st-century learning environments and Makerspace. Flexible, creative, and dedicated to building an interactive and engaging library system for students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. ACS is a rural school district located in the heart of the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, NY.
