Instrumental Band Secondary (7-12th), NYS CertifiedThe Alexandria Central School District is accepting applications for an anticipated probationary teaching position for September 1, 2023. Multiple certifications are preferred, but not required. Knowledge of instructional best practices, as well as good communication skills and dedication to student success, are a must. A Probationary appointment will be based on certification and education, NYS Education Laws, and the ACFA Teacher’s contract.We are seeking a passionate educator most interested in engaging our students, creating meaningful learning experiences, developing students’ abilities, and fostering critical thinking skills. The candidate will provide appropriate learning activities and experiences in assigned Instrumental Band classes, motivating students to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. General responsibilities in this role include:Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill NYS Instrumental Music curriculum.Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. Communicate these objectives to students. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.Work cooperatively with Special Education teachers to modify curricula as needed for Special Education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Be a positive and professional role model for students and support our school mission.Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown.Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, administration, and community members.Demonstrate leadership, take an active role in our school; pursue opportunities for extracurricular activities, clubs, committees, athletics, or other student engagements. ACS is a rural school district located in the heart of the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, NY. The school district has a UPK-12 population of over 550 students housed in one building with a staff of 75 full-time personnel.
