The Watertown City School District is looking for Watertown High School students interested in STEM/education to be STEMKAMP Lab Assistants.STEMKAMP stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics for Kids of Active Military Personnel. STEMKAMP is a 5-day summer camp for students entering grades 5-8 that provides hands-on STEM activities, sessions with STEM professionals and field trips to local industry sites.Program hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Teachers are assigned to a group of 20-25 students who are grouped by grade level. Each teacher will be provided with an assistant to aid in all group activities. An additional student (lab) assistant will work with the Administrative Assistant during STEMKAMP week.Lab Assistant Requirements and Responsibilities:• Attend a local training with all other STEMKAMP teachers and assistants to prepare for the upcoming camp.• Help STEMKAMP staff to set up and facilitate all STEMKAMP program activities.• Be available for STEMKAMP between 7:45 am - 2:15 pm during the week of camp, July 14-18, 2025.• Help during field trips provided by the camp.• Be a role model figure to the STEMKAMP students• Pass all background checks, per the district's policies. Lab Assistant Minimum Education/Experience Required:• High school student with an interest in STEM/education• Interest in a role as a "big brother/big sister" figure to the students• STEM area teacher recommendationLab Assistant Stipend:STEMKAMP (5 days) + 1 Training Day + time setting up prior to camp: Approximately 45 hours at $17.00 per hour. Additional time will be allocated for planning and clean up.
