Number of Positions : 1Salary: $49,202 - $69,480, commensurate with experienceLocation: Varies , Some Travel requiredWork Hours: M - F; Varies with district A certified teacher of the blind and visually impaired will provide direct and/or indirect services to visually impaired pupils, and/or teachers and other professionals associated with the student, to enable the pupils to be educated in the least restrictive environment.Ability to work with a diverse population of visually impaired/blind students.Provide students with a safe, orderly, fair and equitable environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.Collaborate and consult with school teams, community organizations, therapists, doctors, colleagues, and parents regarding recommendations, modifications, and resources to meet students’ learning needs.Instruct students in the areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum Provide in-service training for school personnel and students, and education for parents regarding the needs of visually impaired students, and adaptations, programs, and services for these students.Perform Functional Visual Evaluations and Learning Media Assessments.Develop and implement the IEP for students. Record and report student progress in IEPs.Attend and participate in monthly team meetings.Minimum Requirements Candidates must possess New York State Certification in Blind and Visually Impaired (Orientation and Mobility preferred)Diverse candidates are encourages to apply
