Function:The classroom teacher is expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in their assigned learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal or other designated supervisor.Responsibilities:Essential responsibilities and functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning based on evidenced based practices. Adapt methods and materials to meet students’ individual needs and abilities.Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Provide appropriate feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Evaluate and report on student progress at designated intervals according to established procedures.Maintain student attendance records in the prescribed manner.Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in faculty, team, school, district and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare classroom for class activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignmentsMaintain supervision necessary for general student safety and control.Participate in the development of curriculum and programs.Facilitate classroom team meetings to ensure all staff understand the role they play in the instructional and behavioral success of the students in the classroomCooperate with professional and non-professional staff of this school district and other school districts in collaborative activities.Serve as case manager for assigned students.Qualifications:Must be NYS certified or certifiable in: Vehicle Mechanical Repair (CTE Certification***)***For the CTE Certification path, the successful candidate will need to provide letters of occupational experience to become certified in NYS.
