The West Islip School District is seeking a dedicated and innovative ENL Teacher for a full-year leave replacement position. This role is offering a unique opportunity to support English Language Learners (ELLs) across a diverse developmental spectrum. You should be comfortable navigating various classroom settings and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to bridge the gap between home and school for our ENL families. Key Responsibilities - Instructional Design: plan and deliver high-quality, standards-based lessons that integrate collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity - ENL Service Delivery: provide both Integrated and Stand-alone ENL instruction in accordance with NYS Part 154 - Assessment & Data: administer and interpret mandated English language proficiency assessments - Differentiated Instruction: continuously monitor student progress and adjust pedagogical strategies to meet the diverse linguistic and academic needs of the ELL population - Collaborative Partnership: act as a resource and advocate for ELLs by maintaining strong, transparent communication with general education colleagues, administrators, and families. Required Qualifications - Certification: Valid New York State Certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). - Preferred: Secondary certification in English Language Arts or other content area is a plus, though not required Why Join West Islip?
