The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of School Psychologist - Leave Replacement. The position is for the Fall semester with the length of the leave still to be determined. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification. Additional requirements/qualifications are outlined below. Requirements: Develop relationships and build positive rapport with students, faculty and families to promote a positive learning environment for all students. Assess and support students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs by conducting psychological evaluations, providing counseling and interventions. Collaborate with students, families and faculty to create positive and inclusive learning environments. Participate in the creation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) Conduct scheduled and unscheduled counseling sessions for students as needed. Administer, score, analyze, and interpret intellectual, academic, social/emotional/behavioral assessments using various methods. Conduct student classroom observations and functional assessments. Engage parents, teachers, and staff members to gather relevant data regarding students’ performance. Develop and prepare comprehensive reports. Ensure that action plans are aligned with student’s IEPs. Communicate test results, conclusions and recommendations to the building administration, Director of Special Education, key school staff, students, parents, and service providers, as appropriate. Provide direct and indirect services as outlined in each student’s IEP. Maintain accurate records of students, parents, and other contacts. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
