The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of District Director of Fine & Performing Arts. This is a district level leadership position supervising the fine and performing arts curriculum and staff. The position reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Additional responsibilities and qualifications include the following:QualificationsValid New York State certificationValid School District Leader (SDL) certification5+ years of experience in district leadership role with increasing levels of responsibility within music, art, theater, or dance.Master's degree (preferred)Valid teacher certification ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and serve as a consultant in developing and ensuring district wide continuity of the Fine Arts program.Assume the responsibility for implementing the goals, policies and directives of the Valley Stream CHSD.Coordinate scheduling and provide leadership in the planning and execution of individual school concerts, Summer Music, and other Fine Arts performances.Assists with the development of rigorous, challenging curriculum and high-performance standards and guidelines for fine arts programs for 7-12.Integrate necessary technologies to show case culminating performances to the community.Work with staff to support the social and emotional well-being of our students.Support and enhance the district’s fine & performing arts program by attending District fine arts programs, contests, exhibitions, productions, and other events.Secure consultants, specialists, materials, and other community resources to assist in meeting program goals.Other duties as assigned.SalaryAt the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools, in accordance with the negotiated contract between Valley Stream CHSD and the Valley Stream Secondary School Directors’ Association.
