The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Probationary Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification. Responsibilities include the following: Assist the classroom teacher with setting up and organizing lesson activities. Assist students with academic and/or special educational needs. Supervise students in the classroom and throughout the school building including instructional spaces, hallways, the cafeteria, gymnasium, and/or on field trips. Work with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects. Provide teachers with information about students to assist with the development of appropriate learning experiences, based on their IEPs. Assist students in the use of instructional resources and devices. Assist the teacher with the creation of instructional materials; and Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment under the direct supervision of the assigned teacher. Compensation is at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools, and in accordance with the negotiated contracts between the Valley Stream CHSD and the Valley Stream Teachers’ Association – Teaching Assistants’ Unit .
