The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Leave Replacement ENL/ELA Teacher. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification. Additional responsibilities/requirements include the following: Ability to design lessons and materials that address the NYS CRSE Framework while supporting and challenging students in a rigorous academic environmentExperience working with middle and high school students, preferably in ENL.Strong understanding of literacy development, second language acquisition, and differentiated instructional strategies.Proficient in the use of differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.Support academic, social and emotional well-being of students by creating an engaging learning environment that encourages student growth in both language acquisition and content knowledge. Ability to build positive relationships with students and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong organizational and classroom management skills.Preferred Skills:Bilingual Familiarity with restorative practices and social-emotional learning strategies.Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching methods
