Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a not-for-profit agency providing quality educational and therapeutic services to young children with disabilities. We are currently accepting applications for full-time Special Education Coordinators. We have opportunities available in our Syosset and Levittown facilities.The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, mentoring and training of the education staff (teacher, teacher assistants and teacher aides) in assigned classes to assure that the students in the class are receiving specialized instruction based on their IEPs in a safe, therapeutic environment. The Coordinator oversees the implementation of curriculum, classroom management strategies and instructional methodology which should be compatible with VCLC’s philosophy, the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, the New York State Early Learning Guides, and the Pyramid Model.Educational/Certification Requirements: Must have a Master’s degree in Special Education, School Building Leadership Certification (SBL) and a NYS Students with Disabilities (Birth -Grade 2) Initial or Permanent Professional Certification, or a NYS Special Education Permanent Certification.Minimum of 3 years of classroom experienceCOVID-19 considerations: Must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19. If the school closes due to a COVID-19 related circumstance, you must have the ability to work remotely, including but not limited to internet access and device that you can work from (smart phone, I-pad, lap-top).The school operates 12 months/year. The Special Education Coordinator works 212 days/year.
