TITLE: TEACHING ASSISTANT Full-time, 10-month position CTE, Animal Science Certified Position Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Location: TST BOCES Campus, Powell Building In Career and Technical Education at TST BOCES, we look for employees who are enthusiastic about sharing their expertise with students. Professionals who can take their industry knowledge and assist in preparing students for real world experience under the general supervision of a certified teacher. DUTIES: 1. Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects; 2. Provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences; 3. Assist students in the use of available instructional resources, 4. Assist teacher with the development of instructional materials as requested; 5. Provide instruction using consultation and teacher developed materials on a limited basis; 6. Utilize skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar projects; 7. Assist in related instructional work and duties as required. *This is a hands-on Animal Science program that requires experience in K-9 training, the ability to facilitate and manage a dog kennel environment, and strong communication and organizational skills to support student learning and daily program operations. QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate required. The setting is working with high school aged students in both the classroom and lab setting. Two or more years of canine training experience is admirable but not required. Previous experience in a teaching setting is also desirable. Must be a team player and have excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and communication skills. Computer skills are desirable. Candidates should be in a physical condition that allows for safe handling and management of dogs ranging in all sizes (weights and breeds), must be able to lift at least 40 pounds. START DATE: September 1 , 2026 SALARY: $31,320 (2026-27) full-time base salary for Teaching Assistant Level I or Initial Cert, additional $1,000 base salary for each additional level, plus additional salary credit for relevant experience as a certified teaching assistant, degree and grad credits.
